One detail that stands out is the combination of a base color with an accent color, in this case gray dark and red. The HTC Desire 620 also comes in these colors and others, but their specifications do not match.

According to the filtration @upleaks, HTC A12 will feature a 4.7-inch diagonal HD resolution (1,280 x 720 pixels). Asus Fonepad Tips and Tricks

The 7-inch Asus Fonepad is at the head of a new trend of tablet devices offering a big screen and full phone functionality along with the likes of the recently announced Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0. It takes expandable memory (up to 32GB), sports a 1.2GHz Intel Atom single-core processor, runs an Asus modified version of Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean and is extremely affordable at just £179 SIM-free.

If you’re thinking of picking one up, here are a few pointers to help get the most out of this unique device.

Tip 1: Disabling apps

Like so many other manufacturers, Asus has laden the Fonepad with a number of proprietary apps that although useful for some, may never see use by others. By disabling these unnecessary applications, you can improve the performance of the Fonepad and remove them from the apps drawer, even if they can’t be uninstalled completely.

To do so, head to the Apps section in the Settings menu – we suggest disabling only third party and Asus-made apps like BuddyBuzz, all of which you’ll find under the ‘All’ tab. Hit ‘force stop’, ‘clear cache’, ‘clear data’ and finally ‘disable’. Once you’ve OK’d the alert windows, BuddyBuzz (or whichever app you have chosen) will no longer be an accessible app on the device.

Make sure you’re not disabling an app that affects the fundamental operation of the Fonepad (such as a key part of stock Android) and understand that not apps can be disabled.

Tip 2: Asus Splendid

One app you won’t want to disable is Asus Splendid – an in depth screen calibration app unlike anything we’ve seen natively installed on an Android device before. It offers unprecedented control over colour temperature, hue and saturation and the effects are device wide, but we recommend using it explicitly for improving the look of media such as movies and games.

Tip 3: Bluetooth headset/receiver

No matter how you think you may look, actually taking a call on the Fonepad looks silly, Dom Joly silly. We can’t stress enough the necessity of connecting a wireless Bluetooth headset or receiver. Not only will it remove the risk of you talking with a 7-inch tablet pressed against your ear, but also the convenience of being able to pick up a call hands-free is a welcome bonus.

To pair a compatible accessory, make sure you have Bluetooth switched on in the Settings menu and that to set your headset or receiver is set to pairing mode. Pairing mode will vary from device to device.

Tip 4: Floating widgets

The Android 4.1 Jelly Bean user experience has been lightly modified by Asus with one handy addition being the option of floating widgets. From anywhere throughout the device, press the upward arrow in the bottom right of the screen to bring up a selection of widgets.

There are 11 widgets to choose from including a calculator, miniature web browser, stopwatch, video player and more. Each widget can be moved around the homescreen and will remain in place throughout navigation across the rest of the device. Hitting the ‘X’ in the top right will close a specific widget and in some instances there’s a full screen button that launches the full application. You can also have multiple floating widgets running at once.

Tip 5: Changing the stock keyboard

As much as we love the Asus Fonepad, we don’t love the typing experience from the stock keyboard. It behaves sluggishly and is inaccurate with regards to word prediction. Instead we recommend using a more intuitive keyboard such as SwiftKey.

Both the phone and tablet versions of the app should work on the Fonepad and offer enhanced features like SwiftKey Flow – which allows you the ability to drag your finger across the keys rather than typing. There are also enhanced correction and prediction techniques as well as simultaneous multi-language support. You can download the latest version of SwiftKey from Google Play.

Showcasing the Best 5 Smartphones of 2014

Its been a good 12 months for mobile phone fans but things have really turned up a notch since the start of 2014. The market is fit to burst with some impressive top-of-the-range handsets.

Sony Xperia Z3 Compact

The Xperia Z3 Compact continues Sony’s Xperia Z1 Compact philosophy: to create a miniature handset packed with the same high-end specs as the flagship device. Compared to the Xperia Z3, the Z3 Compact comes with a pretty similar looking spec sheet.

  • Dimensions: 127.3 x 64.9 x 8.6 mm, 129g
  • Display: 4.6in, 720 x 1280 pixel resolution
  • Processor & RAM: Qualcomm Snapdragon 801, 2GB of RAM
  • OS: Android 4.4.4 KitKat
  • Camera: 20.7-megapixel sensor
  • Battery: 2600mAh

Moto X 2014 Edition

The Moto X was all about offering the best possible user experience, free from as much bloatware and superfluous nonsense, at a reasonable price point.

The Moto X 2014, however, took things a good few steps further, adding in improved specs across the board and plenty of solid improvements to the battery, camera, display and connectivity.

Apple iPhone 6

The iPhone 5s was arguably one of the best handsets of 2013; Apple had some work to do to be able to improve upon the handset. The good news is Apple pulled it out of the bag.

This time around you can also pick up a 128GB version for the first time. The design has much the same language as before but has improved by being thinner, longer and more refined edges and corners the way round. Touch ID has also made a return on the home button at the bottom of the handset.

  • Dimensions: 138.1 x 67 x 6.9mm, 129g
  • Display: 4.7in, 750 x 1334 pixel resolution
  • Processor & RAM: Apple A8 Chipset, 1GB of RAM
  • OS: Apple iOS 8
  • Camera: 8-megapixel sensor
  • Battery: 1810 mAh

Samsung Galaxy Alpha

Looking purely at the spec sheet, you may not get a full feel for the Samsung Galaxy Alpha. Samsung has created a product with an excellent design; this time around it has opted for metal edges that give it a much more premium feel.

  • Dimensions: 132.4 x 65.5 x 6.7 mm, 155g
  • Display: 4.7in, 720 x 1280 pixel resolution
  • Processor & RAM: Exynos 5 Octa 5430, 2GB of RAM
  • OS: Android 4.4.4 KitKat
  • Camera: 12-megapixel sensor
  • Battery: 1860 mAh

Nokia Lumia 930

Nokia’s Lumia 930 reflects a real achievement for Microsoft’s new phone division. It’s got very similar specs inside to the Lumia 1520 but shrinks down the size and gives it a much slicker design.

Windows Phone 8.1 still has some serious issues but it’s grown a lot with this update and is on its way to becoming the OS it was always meant to be.

Asus ROG GX500 Laptop Release Date

Asus ROG GX500 Preview :Super-Slim Ultra HD Gaming Power at Computex

Asus ROG (GX500) Laptop Release Date-The ROG GX500 is extremely similar in design towards the Blade and the actual GS60, and these designs share a passing resemblance to Apples MacBook distinct laptops. Like the actual MacBook, the GX500 sports rounded corners and also a large trackpad. If there was clearly that one thing that always put me aloof from getting a games notebook, it was that they were all consequently enormous. Thats begun to vary though -- Razer created the Blade, a metal-clad gaming notebook which was eminently portable. It truly is started a trend, with more producers, especially those through Taiwan, coming up making use of their own versions now they know its possible.

Asus ROG (GX500)

Asus ROG (GX500) Laptop Release Date

I thought the actual MSI GS60 2PE Ghost Pro, with the Ultra HD monitor and magnesium-lithium metal chassis, was by now pretty thin on 20 mm. Then Asus went and announced a single even thinner -- on 19 mm. Not just that, but the elegant machine finish off took my inhale away.

There are some touches that be noticed, however -- the actual speaker grills can be found at the sides of the keyboard, meaning it should sound loud and also clear. While most games laptops slather for the red paint, the actual Asus ROG GX500 keeps the item relatively restrained, with red accents for the keyboard lights and also trackpad.

I tried typing for the keyboard, and such as the the MSI GS60, the actual laptop lies completely flat, so you may have to raise it a corner a little increased at an angle for just a more comfortable writing and gaming knowledge. The only drawback I possibly could see was that will fingerprints and hands smudges are highly likely to mar the lovely surface.

Features

The Asus ROG GX500 will be powered by a Intel Core i7 processor, an Nvidia GTX860M and also a 15. 6-inch Ultra HD display having a resolution of 3, 840x2, 160 pixels. It is just 2. 2kg. Going on sale in the third quarter of this holiday season for an to date unknown price (I never expect it to get cheap), the GX500 is a powerhouse of some sort of gaming notebook with regarding green touch of school.

I really like what I saw of the Asus ROG GX500, this also gaming machine, with the Asus Chi and also Transformer Book Sixth is v, are the stand-out products from your Taiwanese company at Computex.

Oculus Rift Crystal Cove

The Oculus Rift is one of those prototypes that just keeps getting better and better each time we see it. This year, Oculus showed off their new prototype, the Crystal Cove. This new hardware takes care of nearly all of the problems I noticed with the original—most notably the motion blurring, the resolution, and the lack of head tracking. Now armed with a camera that tracks the movement of your head in space (think Kinect here), the Oculus Rift’s experience is now that much more immersive. I can’t wait to see what Oculus ends up shipping customers—all I know is that it feels like it’s getting awful close.

Best Moto G cases to buy 2014

Looking for the best Motorola G cases to buy? We pick six of the best to keep the brilliant budget Android phone safe, secure and looking boxfresh for as long as possible.

The Motorola Moto G is one of the hottest phones of the moment. We normally say that about mobiles that cost £500, but this time around it’s different.
The Moto G costs just £100-150, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t do your best to keep it in good nick. A case, and maybe even a screen protector, is the way forward.

As you won’t find all that many Moto G cases on the high street – it’s popular but it’s no iPhone 5S – we’ve put together a list of some of the cases we think you should check out. They include replacements for the back cover, flip-style cases and the more traditional rubbery skins that are made for just about every phone under the sun.

We’ve kept this budget sensible this time too, with all of our picks available for under £30. Dig in.

Motorola Moto G Shell

Key features:

    Plenty of colours
    Low Price
    Just like the original shell

This should be the number one stop for most Motorola Moto G owners. The Motorola shell for Moto G is a plastic battery plate that’s identical to the one you get with the phone. If you’ve bashed up your mobile already, this is one way to give it a bit of a refresh.

Motorola also makes the shell in a bunch of different colours too – white, yellow, blue, green and others. The best bit is the price. This official shell costs just £9 online, making it about the same price as a fairly cheap third-party case.

Price: £9

Motorola Moto G Flip case

Key features:

    Screen protection
    Multiple colours
    Replaces backplate

The second kind of official Motorola Moto G you’ll find in the UK is the Flip case. This replaces the battery cover of your phone, and also provides a flip-over flap to keep your screen protected.

We think this is a pretty good option as the plastic screen surround is the most vulnerable part of the phone. It tends to get dented when in your pocket with keys and coins, and the Flip case gives it a degree of protection.

Price: £18.99

PDair Book and Flip Leather cases for Moto G

Key features:

Made of real ‘South Korea cowhide’
    Stitched edges
    Includes belt clip

PDair makes cases for the majority of big-name phones. The two we recommend checking out for the Motorola Moto G are its leather ‘book’ and ‘flip’ style cases.

These have flaps that either open up to the top or the side of the screen – these are two different products. The phone is held in place with plastic grips, and there are cut-outs for the camera and the microUSB charge socket on the bottom of the phone.

Cases like this add a bit of bulk to your phone, but should give better impact protection than either of Motorola’s official cases.

Price: £12.99

Case-Mate Barely There

Key features:

    Low visual impact
    Low bulk
    White/pink/black shades

As we discovered in our look at the biggest Motorola Moto G problems, getting a case for the phone is a good idea. The non-replaceable plastic edges of the phone are just that bit too prone to damage.

However, if you want to make the phone seem like it doesn’t have a case on at all, the Case-Mate Barely There is a solid bet. It’s a rubber skin that comes in black, white and pink shades. And it protects the Motorola Moto G’s body without adding too much to its bulkiness or weight. It costs about £15 in the UK.

Price: £14.99

Orzly Fusion Case for Moto G

Key features:

    Transparent rear
    Adds little bulk
    Low cost

Plastic and rubber cases for phones are generally pretty similar, but the Orzly fusion takes a slightly different approach to most. It’s a bit like the bumper cases Apple made for the iPhone 5, with a black outer rubber part that protects the Moto G from impacts.

However, it also has a layer of acrylic on the back, which stops the rear of the phone from getting scratched. It’s transparent too, so the Motorola Moto G look is kept more-or-less in-tact.

It is not a luxury case, though, and does make the side controls – the volume buttons – a bit trickier to operate. On the plus side, it costs just £7, making it cheaper than one of Motorola’s replacement shells.

Price: £6.99

Otterbox Commuter for Moto G

Key features:

    Plastic/rubber construction
    Two-tone design
    Screen protector included

Otterbox is best-known for its seriously rugged Defender cases. However, if you want to keep your Motorola Moto G a sensible size, we recommend checking out its slightly more accessible Commuter line for Moto G.

It’s a case that is still designed to protect against impacts, with a rubber and plastic construction, but is not massive. It also significantly increases the grippiness of the phone thanks to its rubbery sides.

As with its other cases, Otterbox includes a screen protector with the Commuter, making its current £25 price easier to swallow.

Price: £24.99
