Apple iPhone 5s
.jpg)
Apple iPhone 5s is a carbon copy of iPhone 5- in appearance. Iphone 5s is stuffed with newer technology- more powerful processor, better camera performance, and newer interface and features. But, like every other smartphone, iPhone 5s also suffers in some aspects. iPhone has already got a stunning display and a strong premium design, but-lost some attention when iphone 5s was introduced with the same as its predecessor. The all new colourful iOS 7 is great but failed to catch all hearts back and the upgraded battery is not so impressive. The next generation A7 and M7 processors are something truly innovative and amazing. So is the new Touch ID feature. Apple says the 5S is “the most forward-thinking iPhone yet”. Its truly is an amazing device, but the 4inch display is not for all today.
BUILD / DESIGN
iPhone 5S is not an improvement over the iPhone 5 when it comes to build quality, because iPhone 5 already has a super-solid design. Its the same elegant and premium design. With dimensions of 123.8 x 58.6 x 7.6mm and weight of 112g, Apple iPhone 5s is extremely light and thin. But, the size of iPhone 5s is a little small for current market tend.

Comparing the iPhone 5 and 5s not only the design, but every button and port are in the same place and even the phones measurements remain unchanged as well. Unlike the iPhone 5, the camera module of iPhone 5s comes with a dual-LED flash and the iPhone 5s has an impressive and innovative redesigned home button, which is also a fingerprint scanner.

It has premium cut aluminium rear that sits absolutely flush with glass panels that sit at the top and bottom. Being not a Big phone of today does not make iPhone 5s unimpressive. Its a stunning phone to hold in the hand, its really light and comes with the all-aluminium and glass chassis. It comes in Space Gray, White/Silver and Gold colours. Silver is essentially the same as it ever was, and the Space gray is just a lighter version of iPhone 5’s black colour. Gold is whats entirely new and does add a classy look.

DISPLAY
Apple has used the Retina display in the iPhone 5s 4inch screen that comes with a resolution of 1136 x 640, making it still razor sharp at 326DPI. Its bright, color-accurate, and extremely responsive to touch. iPhone 5s Retina screen quality is pin-sharp and really shows off iOS 7’s brighter and more vivid UI. But, 4inch screen is not what most people look for these days; especially in a premium device like this- not everyone wants a mega large phone- still, it could have been a little more larger.

SOFTWARE / INTERFACE
The iPhone 5S ships Apples brand new iOS 7, which is a big improvement(for most) over iOS 6 in looks and interface. The iPhone 5S is much easier to use with the iOS 7 UI. One frustrating thing in iOS 7(in all iOS) is the dependence it has on the settings menu- where all app controls are housed, instead of being in the respective apps. The interface has improved throughout, putting more into each app, so you dont have to go through Settings for everything. Theres also a new Control Center, a swipe-up menu, that gives access to the music player, brightness, some quick apps and toggle elements like the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

Theres a new Today screen- a pull down- that shows you your appointments for the day and has tabs to view all notifications, as well as missed calls. AirDrop is a brilliant way to share files and links between iOS devices. Multi-tasking with a double tap on the home button now sees the screen youre viewing minimised to a thumbnail in the centre of the screen, and a horizontal list of panels of all apps running in the background to the right of it. But, its something best suited for a bigger screen.
Apple iPhone 5s comes with lots of, old and new, Apples apps for all basic needs and all the built-in apps are optimised to take advantage of the A7 chip’s high-performance 64-bit architecture. It includes iPhoto(photo editing),iMovie (movie making), GarageBand(music creator/editor/recorder), Pages(writing/editing/designing), Numbers(spredsheet), Keynote(presentation/graphics tool), Safari browser, Apple Maps, Passbook, iTunes, App Store and so on.

NFC is an important addition of smartphones these days, especially in high end phones and unfortunately it is missing in iPhone 5s. The Apple Maps has improved a lot with the new M7 motion processor, but its still not the best. The new iOS 7 is not really tempting for all, even for some longtime iPhone users.

Touch ID
Accessing your device is a lot more secure and faster in Apple iPhone 5s, with the all new Touch ID- a fingerprint identity sensor. A fingerprint lock may seem to be something boring for some; especially for those who prefer just something like slide-to-unlock feature to access their device. But, definitely Apple has turned this Touch ID feature into something amazing.
Apple has integrated a capacitive fingerprint sensor into the new home button and protected it with a sturdy sapphire crystal overlay. The silver steel ring encircling the sensor acts as a trigger, which detects your finger and then initiates the scan. Once recorded, Touch ID has 360-degree, readability of registered digits(up to five different fingers); the sensor is capable of taking high-resolution pictures of your fingerprint from any angle, which it then send back to the A7 chip for analysis. Touch ID can also be used to approve purchases from iTunes Store and the App Store. Apple points out that it doesnt store fingerprint details are contained within the hardware, and cannot be accessed by anybody else.

The tremendous potential of Touch ID is limited(for now, Maybe). It is restricted to Apple’s own apps and unavailable to third parties. As I said, Touch ID is amazing. But, with some development it could become really more than just amazing.
CAMERA
Apple iPhone 5s sports a 8MP camera just like iPhone 5, but here each individual pixel is slightly bigger and collects more light. Hence it provides better low-light performance and crisper shots all around. Apple made the sensor 15% larger, increased the individual pixels to 1.5 microns and the aperture to f/2.2, resulting in an increase in light sensitivity by 33%. The dual-LED flash (True Tone) consists of a white and amber flash. The flash works out the intensity and colour temperature for the environment and fire each LED to match that specific temperature.

With the new A7-driven processing iPhone 5s can handle burst shooting at a rate of up to 10 images per second, which are then bundled into a subfolder, and autopicks what it considers the best shots. The camera also features auto image stabilization, which is designed to sharpen low-light shots by taking four images in a row, within a short exposure time, and combining the sharpest parts of each individual shot.

The Slow-motion video mode shoot video at 120 frames per second at 720p and play back any section at quarter speed for a dramatic effect. Live video zoom feature lets you zoom in up to 3x while recording, with just a pinch(but, a bit blurry). Theres new and faster Pano mode, that lets you capture epic panorama photos with dynamic auto exposure. The Square mode gets your photo ready for sharing by automatically framming and cropping your shot to a square format. There is also Photo filters which can be applied before or after you shoot. You can even simply remove it, if you dont like the filter effect.

The iSight can capture videos in stunning 1080p HD. You can take still photos as you record, add the slow-motion effect or even zoom while recording. The all-new FaceTime HD front camera on iPhone 5s features larger pixels and an improved backside illumination sensor(BIS), that lights up the selfies and video chats(720p video).

BATTERY
Apple increased the battery capacity of iPhone 5s and it is packed with a non-removable Li-Po 1560mAh battery. But, unfortunately even with super cool features and upgraded capacity, iPhone 5s battery performance is not so impressive.
It delivers an average performance in overall. If you are leaving the iphone 5s on stand by, it performs well! But, when used for some slightly heavy processing, battery level drops down rapidly than you expect.
MEMORY
The iPhone 5S lacks a microSD card slot for memory expansion. The device comes in 16/32/64GB versions, but the extra storage is too pricey. Unlike Android phones, more user memory is available with iPhone 5s. Out of 16GB of internal memory 13.6GB is usable.
PERFORMANCE
If you are considering the processor of a smartphone; all the latest flagship devices of all brands runs on impressive processors. But, with the Dual-core 1.3 GHz Cyclone (ARM v8-based) CPU on super-cool A7 chipset, iPhone 5s seems to outrun them all in performance. iPhone 5S’s performance is found to be very fast and extremely reliable. iPhone 5s comes with 1GB DDR3 RAM and a PowerVR G6430 (quad-core) GPU.

A7 makes iPhone 5s the first 64-bit smartphone in the world and iOS 7 is uniquely designed to take advantage of the A7 chip. A 64-bit chip allows for more powerful processing and a greater amount of power to be plugged through the phone for most tasks and will also support a greater amount of RAM(more than 4GB of RAM). Just like the GPU performs all the graphics processing, the new M7 Co-processor takes the weight of motion measurements away from the all-new A7 CPU. The M7-motion coprocessor is designed to collect data from the accelerometer, gyroscope, compass, and others, and to use that data to determine the state of your phone without sucking battery life.
Just like the Touch ID, The new processors are cool, but their potential is not utilized. Theres no much applications that can really take advantage of the iPhone 5S and its faster next generation A7 processor.
